- Description
This position reports directly to the Director of Strategic Operations in the Center for Translational Medicine. The individual must have excellent attention to detail, work independently but also be able to function well as part of a team. Consultation with position’s supervisor occurs as needed, but individuals are expected to be self-directed especially with regard to duties related to payroll, travel, GrizMart, and Procard processing. A comprehensive understanding of Banner, GrizMart, GTO, U-approve and UMDW would be ideal. Flexibility and a willingness to assist and tackle any job within or outside of their current work group is necessary.
- Examples of Duties and Responsibilities
- Accurately process hiring, payroll, time entry in GTO and graduate assistant contracts for CTM employees in a timely manner to meet deadlines.
- Requesting/Scheduling rooms for meetings and special events.
- Responsible for maintaining office supply inventory.
- Organizing and maintaining both paper and electronic files.
- Providing administrative support to CTM.
- UM ProCard processing for a number of large volume users, ensuring ProCard policies are being followed, acceptable receipts are attached, and proper accounting is applied to transactions.
- Performs accounting reconciliations to ensure payroll and other expenditures are accurately and appropriately recorded in Banner Finance.
- Processes purchases, equipment maintenance contracts, and travel reimbursements using GrizMart.
- Verifying and tracking training/education/licensing for CTM employees.
- Minimum Qualifications
- Working knowledge of payroll processing practices.
- Strong working knowledge of Excel.
- Strong attention to detail, a high level of accuracy and ability to perform financial work with minimal errors is especially important.
- Effective written and oral communication skills.
- Ability to do keyboard/data entry with great attention to detail as well as being capable of recognizing and correcting errors.
- Outstanding customer service skills.
- Proven communication skills both verbal and written.
- Demonstrated ability to interpret, communicate and maintain compliance with all applicable policies and procedures.
- Understand and adapt to changing processes to meet changing technological environment.
- Ability and skill to work with multiple types of software.
- Basic accounting skills.
- Demonstrated knowledge of professional office practices and procedures, business English, spelling, composition and grammar, including the ability to write, edit and layout documents in a variety of formats suitable for the intended audience.

- Ability to multi-task, make good judgment and manage multiple projects concurrently with exceptional organization skills.

Compensation Title: Accounting Associate III
Bargaining Unit: FOCUS-MFPE
Work Schedule: Full-time, 1.0 FTE (40 Hours a week), Monday through Friday 8:00 am to 5:00 pm, 12 months/year, this position is required to be in the office, remote work is not available.
Probationary Period: Six (6) months minimum
